Juice Cleanse

How it Works

Adding juice to your diet is a way of boosting nutrition and getting back to healthy basics. Cleansing is about taking the clean eating approach a step further, giving your system a break, and helping reduce your dependence on unhealthy processed foods.

At Juice Journey, we provide customizable cleanse programs tailored to your nutritional history and taste preference. Our certified nutrition consultant will work with you to customize your cleanse based on your goals and current diet. We believe that doing something good for the body, mind, and soul shouldn’t interrupt your everyday life.

Our cleanse packages consist of six, 16-ounce drinks per day. Each healthy, enzyme-rich, nutrient-dense, freshly pressed juice is made via our hydraulic press process, bottled immediately, and put into an insulated cleanse bag for your traveling convenience.

Each drink in your cleanse package is clearly labeled in the order you should drink it, starting with drink #1 first thing in the morning, and ending with drink #6 at least two hours before you go to bed. Most of our customers find it works best to drink their juices 2 - 2 1⁄2 hours apart, but listen to your body it will tell you what it needs. Each juice is created to replace solid food and snacks, and you should avoid alcohol, energy drinks, caffeine, and nicotine while cleansing (you may have herbal tea). We do recommend that you drink plenty of water in between each juice.

Along with five variations of cold-pressed juice and one homemade cashew mylk, you may supplement your cleanse by adding two water drinks: one with chlorophyll and the other with Aloe Vera. The chlorophyll water is mild in flavor and great for added hydration in between your juices. Chlorophyll can help rebuild red blood cells. The Aloe Vera water should be the last drink of your day, after the cashew mylk. It acts as a mild colon cleanser, aiding in eliminating and detoxifying.

If you follow our lead, stay hydrated, and give yourself time to rest and relax, our cleanse will give your digestive system a much deserved break while simultaneously feeding your body the nutrients it needs.

Making the Most of Your Cleanse

Whether it’s your first cleanse or your 50th, we want to share some tips to help you make the most of your experience. That said, we know everyone’s body is different, and what works for one might not work for another. So do what works best for you after all, you know your body best!

Before Your Cleanse (Pre-Cleanse Instructions)

To get the most out of your cleanse, adequate preparation is essential. You’ll want to start weaning yourself off of your usual indulgences and make some adjustments a few days before you start. Don’t worry, it’s going to be easier than you think, and your body will thank you for it! We all deserve a break once in a while. Think of your pre-cleanse meal plan as your way of getting your body in great shape before packing for your vacation.

Hydration

It’s a sad but true fact that most of us don’t get enough water into our systems on a daily basis, but this is a key component to a successful cleanse. Plus, it helps ease dry skin, irregularity, and more. We recommend starting your mornings with a cup of herbal tea or warm water with lemon, drinking at least two liters of filtered water per day, and ditching caffeinated drinks. Try to drink at least 16 oz of water in between each juice to help flush out those nasty toxins!

Pre-Cleanse Preparation...

Obviously, starting a cleanse means you’re going to change your eating habits a lot, but it can help your cleanse, and be less of a shock to your system if you make some simple changes in the three days leading up to your start date. We recommend eating nutritious, whole foods, and skipping meats and poultry, refined starches (bread, crackers, white rice and pasta), dairy products, sugar, alcohol and nicotine, and sushi. So what can you eat? If cutting out all meat is a little much, then you can supplement with plain light fish. Eat plenty of fresh salads, fruits, and veggies. The day before you start your cleanse, try transitioning to mostly smoothies and raw fruits and veggies. We also recommend supplementing your diet with fatty acids, like chia and flaxseeds which can be added to your food or taken on their own.

During Your Cleanse

Congratulations! You’ve officially started your cleanse, and you’re ready to start reaping the benefits of juicing. Here are some things to keep in mind to help your system be in its best possible shape to keep everything flowing:

Keep drinking at least eight glasses of water per day! We suggest 16 oz. of water between each juice.

Make sure you get ample rest.

Having trouble eliminating? We recommend booking colonics or doing enemas to help flush out any toxic waste. If that sounds like a little much for you, try an herbal laxative or an herbal bowel cleanse supplement. If you need additional guidance, call our nutritionist, Danette, at 917-517-7820.

We suggest easing up on your usual work-out routine, but recommend taking one or two light walks per day or doing yoga to accelerate your lymphatic and circulatory systems.

Consider a massage or reflexology treatment.

Take a daily probiotic to help your intestines repopulate the good flora you need, and to help you become more balanced.

Feeling uncomfortable? Don’t sweat it! Remember, while your digestive system is getting a lighter load, your body is adjusting to the clean nutrients you’re putting in it, and it’s simultaneously ridding itself of all the junk you just don’t need. A lot is going on, and sometimes that can feel a little overwhelming!

In an extreme case, if you’re feeling exceptionally wiped out, and need a little something to help pick you up, try some green tea, or add a pinch of Himalayan Sea Salt to your drinks. If you are still very hungry, try adding some chia seeds to your juices or drinking some veggie broth. If you really need to have some solid food, eat a few slices of organic apples, cucumber or avocado.

If you do deviate from the juice cleanse, you are only cheating yourself. Please try to refrain from eating any solid food to get the maximum results from your juice cleanse journey. After all, it’s only a few days out of your very long life. Don’t think of it as depriving yourself, but instead, as giving your precious body the well-deserved gift of repair and rejuvenation!

After Your Cleanse

You made it! Well done! Now let’s get you back on track with a plan that will help you continue to feel the benefits of your cleanse and maximize its effectiveness. The more gently you reintroduce foods into your diet, the better off you’ll be. Break your cleanse with small meals that incorporate juices, smoothies, soups, and some solids. Juices, smoothies, and all of our homemade raw vegan food selections are all great post-cleanse options!
